If you don’t have Chrome, MetaMask, Ether, or an Ethereum wallet, please follow these steps. If you do, you can skip this part.

  • Install Google Chrome
  • Install MetaMask — A Chrome extension that connects your browser to the Ethereum blockchain
  • Buy some Ether. You can do that at an exchange like Coinbase
  • Move your Ether to a wallet like MyCrypto (do not keep your Ether in the exchange)
  • Link your Ethereum wallet to MetaMask — Make sure to load it with enough Ether to create the event, which should only cost a few dollars. You’ll pay the fee in “gas,” which is the cost of executing transactions on Ethereum. The more gas you pay, the faster your transaction will be accepted. Gas fees are set by the network, not HelloSugoi.

How to create an event

To create an event, you’ll need to create an account first.

  • Click SIGN UP
  • Enter your NAME, EMAIL ADDRESS, and create a PASSWORD. The password must be up to 8 characters and can include the following special characters: .!@#$%^*()_+-=
  • You’ll receive a verification email. Click the link to verify your account
  • Once verified, the page will refresh and direct you to the CREATE EVENT page

If you already have an account, follow these steps.

  • Open the navigation bar in the top left corner of the browser window
  • Click CREATE EVENT
  • Complete the form by entering the EVENT NAME, EVENT DESCRIPTION, EVENT LOCATION, EVENT URL, EVENT DATE, number of tickets per TICKET TIER (we currently offer 3 tiers)
  • The ticket’s price is set in Ether. To see the price of your ticket in USD (or any other fiat currency) go to Currencio. Please note that we DO NOT *YET* update the ticket’s price to account for fluctuations in the price of Ether
  • Next, you’ll enter the event creator’s wallet addresses. Our current product supports splits between 3 event creators. You’ll notice that there’s only 2 fields to enter an event creator’s addresses. That’s because we already using yours, so there’s no need to fill it out again

If you’re not familiar, a “wallet address” is a complicated looking string of alphanumeric characters that determines where the Ether is sent once the event is complete (or for any transaction). Think of it like an email address, but instead of sending and receiving a message, you’re sending and receiving a cryptocurrency like Ether. This may sounds obvious, but it’s super important to correctly enter each event organizer’s “wallet address,” otherwise your Ether may be sent to the wrong person. If this happens, there’s no way to recover your lost Ether.

It’s important to note that the Ether collected from tickets sales lives in the event smart contract and is made available only after the event is ended.

  • Once all the information about the event is entered, click SUBMIT. Again, make sure to have enough Ether in your wallet to pay gas fees, as you may receive an *insufficient funds* message in MetaMask
  • A MetaMask window appears. As I mentioned earlier, you’ll need to pay a small gas fee in order to create the event on the Ethereum Network. The gas fee is entered in the MetaMask window. Adjust gas price if desired. We’ve set the default gas price to 10 gwei
  • Click SUBMIT
  • Expect to wait about 15 seconds for the Ethereum Network to confirm the transaction
  • Another MetaMask window appears
  • Click SUBMIT up to 6 more times to complete the event’s creation. Please note that the number of clicks in this window depends on the number of fields that you filled out on the CREATE EVENT page. Once completed, the red text at the bottom of the page will indicate how many times you'll need to click SUBMIT
  • Expect to wait about 15 seconds for the Ethereum Network to confirm the transaction
  • Once all transactions are completed, you’re directed to the EVENTS I’VE CREATED page

And there you have it!! You’ve successfully created an event with HelloSugoi on the Ethereum blockchain. You may now direct your customers to tickets.hellosugoi.com where they can use Ether to purchase tickets to your event.

HelloSugoi DOES NOT control the price of Ether. Given the current volatility of all cryptocurrencies, the price of Ether is likely to change during the event’s life-cycle. If the price goes up, then great!! If it goes down, well, there’s nothing we can do about it. Again, HelloSugoi DOES NOT control the price of Ether.
